British Columbia has always been a province that aids people to immigrate to the Pacific Coast. While the province sports Vancouver, it also offers everything to small as well as medium-size towns. Among the streams, the Skilled Worker Stream, and Healthcare Professional Stream are linked with the Express Entry System. This further aids the provincial program to choose suitable candidates. However, the candidates at that instance should have an Express Entry profile.

The profile should have been created recently and must not expire soon.

Those who are nominated from the province obtain 600 additional points. These points are added to the CRS score, which is used to assess the profile.

Once the candidate earns extra points, he or she can be confident of receiving an Invitation to Apply. This document would further help the person to apply for permanent residence.

Based on the criteria, the person would be selected in the subsequent BC PNP draw.

After going through the data for 2018, the province has certainly helped people to immigrate. To anybody’s surprise, the program nominated 6500 candidates last year. This figure was equivalent to almost half the percentage of those who came through the categories.

About Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS)

Three years back, the province had introduced the Skills Immigration Registration System. This system awards points based on specific factors.

At the time of assessment, age, education, work experience and language proficiency is taken into account. Besides, the person would also be assessed on the type of job offer he or she might have received.

Post selection of the highest-scoring candidates, an invitation to apply is sent through the officials. The draws are then conducted from time to time to choose individuals from the pool.

About Tech Pilot Program

As per the news, BC PNP draw was responsible for coming up with Tech Pilot. Such an initiative was taken way back in the year 2017.

Regarding Tech Pilot, this program was on the lookout for Skills Immigration or Express Entry candidates. But, while the officials selected the individuals, they considered those with an eligible job offer. Moreover, the job profile of the person had to match with any of the 29 occupations in the list.

Among the tech occupations, the eligible profiles basically included engineers. The PNP also took computer programmers, biological technologists, writers, and broadcast technicians. To know more about the groups, the person has to refer to the NOC list.

The main objective to design the program now stays until June 2020. The program would help IT companies to recruit skilled foreign workers. This would help to cover up for labour shortages and fill up vacancies.

Above all, the pilot would allow tech draws to be held every week. The program would also offer some kind of flexibility with the job offer. This means that the candidate would be eligible even when he has an indeterminable job offer.

Apart from this, the program would help employers to get in touch with people who can assist them in every way.

About Entrepreneur Streams

Apart from the Skills Immigration Stream, the province would also favour someone who has been running a business for a long time. Based on the profile, the candidate can cling on to the hope of immigrating to British Columbia.

Under the Entrepreneur Stream, there are three main categories. While the first one is Base Category, the second is the Strategic Pilots Category and the Regional Pilot Category respectively.

Talking about the Regional Pilot category, this was introduced on March 14, 2019. Officials state the category would exist initially for a time span of two years.

The provincial program came up with the category to support economic development around the regions outside the urban areas.

To be a part of the Regional Pilot, the entrepreneur would first have to procure a temporary work permit. This would aid them to run the business for at least a year. Everything would then be observed according to the terms of the Performance Agreement.

If the business meets the requirements, then the province would nominate the entrepreneur. Further, it would be easy for him to apply for permanent residence.

Post-approval of the submitted application, the candidate can apply for a two-year work permit. He would then have to request the officials who have been working with the Federal Government.

Most importantly, less time would be taken for processing the applications. Generally, it takes around 2 to 3 months to process a BC PNP application. But, with Tech Pilot applications, these would be processed within a shorter time span.

Finally, the Ministry of Jobs, Trade and Technology would offer support to employers of IT firms. The team would be available to speak during many events and deliver presentations. The team members would also be willing to deliver services to each and every employer.
